Before they were a part of HBC and long before we went on a 10 day tour together, I'd been working with local Philly Punk/Psych band SHID on my next solo album. We'd been playing a bunch of shows together in the West Philly Punk/DIY scene for a few months and every few weeks I'd meet them at a studio outside the city to track instruments for my project. After a show we played together the lead singer and bassist of SHID asked me if I'd want to front man one of their side bands. With all of the punk shit I'd been working on and having them help me with for my solo album I was super excited and down to front man as well as honored that one of my favorite singers and performers fucked with my vocals enough to proposition me for the position.

I think the first show we were supposed to play together I backed out of because my friend had just been killed and I was just too fucked up. I got shit faced and almost passed out on the curb during his candlelight vigil. The second chance I got was at a venue up the street called Cousin Danny's and I was dummy nervous. The punk/DIY scene had been accepting me with open arms but that was for my Rap shit. Now I was stepping into their scene frfr and doing it in front of some of my favorite local performers. It took everything in me not to get shit faced drunk. So I only got a couple drinks and walked on the cramped stage. I didn't want to close my eyes but it was my first time screaming in front of people so I rolled my eyes in the back of my head so I couldn't see anyone but still have my eyes open, and started yelling, screaming and shaking over a wall of drums and bass. We've been playing together ever since.

That was in 2022. Now this is something I do almost every two weeks. Screaming at a bunch of white folks about themselves, gentrification, racism, violence, substance abuse and relationship dynamics. Stripped down and primal. This record in particular is one of my favorites. I think the title speaks for itself. I've always been somewhat of a late bloomer. I had my first relationship at 23.
